Decoding the Income Tax Impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

On July 4, 2025 the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) was signed into law by President Donald Trump. The bill not only extends many of the provisions first implemented by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, but also introduces many new features to the law that will impact tax planning for years to come. In this session, attendees will gain an understanding of the OBBBA provisions most likely to affect clients’ income tax liabilities and planning strategies both now, and in the future. Specifically, attendees will explore which existing provisions the OBBBA essentially extended intact, which provisions it materially changed, and which novel provisions it introduced to the planning world.

• Explore which provisions of tax policy were made permanent by the OBBA
• Identify potential planning strategies that should be considered before the end of 2025 in light of the OBBBA’s changes
• Develop a roadmap to address the OBBBA’s changes with clients
