This 1-hour session draws on “Trust in Financial Services”, the signature research initiative of the Maguire Center for Ethics in Financial Services. The Center’s 2022-2024 Maguire Fellows in Applied Ethics published a research paper and an academic publication, which utilized the Center’s trust dataset to explore the factors that contribute to the formation of consumer trust for 7 types of financial services providers. The session focuses on the Fellows’ trust research paper, leading into the Center’s Advanced Strategies for Building Trust, A Practice-Based Certificate Program for Financial Professionals, and the College’s study on retirement income literacy. This research lays the groundwork for us to highlight the connection between trust in financial services (or lack thereof) and retirement planning.
